It was narrated from Mu’adh bin ‘Abdullah bin Khubaib that his father said:
“I was with the Messenger of Allah [SAW] on the road to Makkah when I found myself alone with the Messenger of Allah [SAW]. I drew close to him and he said: ‘Say.’ I said: ‘What should I say?’ He said: ‘Say.’ I said: ‘What should I say?’ He said: ‘Say: I seek refuge with (Allah) the Lord of the daybreak…’ until he finished (the Surah), then he said: ‘Say: I seek refuge with (Allah) the Lord of mankind…’ until he finished it. Then he said: ‘The people cannot seek refuge with Allah by means of anything better than these two.'”

These two Surahs ,also known as the Al-Mu’awwidhatan, mentioned in the above Hadith are the last two Surahs of the Holy Quran, namely, Surah Al-Falaq,the second last Surah(No.113),and Surah an-Naas,the last Surah(No.114).
Surah al-Falaq andSurah an-Naas are man’s best protection against evil. They provide the antidote to superstition and fear by teaching us to seek refuge in Allaah from every kind of ill and also appeal to us, to place our trust in Allaah SWT,rather than man as sure shield and protection. Hence it is good to frequently recite them in our Salah. It is also recommended to say them after each obligatory prayer and before going to sleep at night.
